The Last Days of Ilam
Laketown has been around since before the year 300, populated mostly by humans. It is built on where the Lune River exits Lake Miravor. Its location makes it a hub for all trade west of The Godswall, by road and by river. By 546 Laketown became the largest city in all of Ilam. Nearly all races could be found in Laketown, selling goods or moving them through to somewhere else. For most of its history Laketown has been ruled by a Trade Council made up of the owners of the major trade companies.
When the Tyvor empire formed 624 Laketown joined as it was still primarily lead by humans. The trade significance of Laketown makes its senators the most influential in the Empire. It is said that while the Emperor chooses policies, his choices come from Laketown.
The Cataclysm has surprising little effect on Laketown, some flooding from the lake and damage from the earthquakes. Over time Laketown only continues to grow as it remains in the habitable area of Ilam. However the massive growth from refugees have overcrowded the city to bursting. Many of its outlying areas are now vast slums.
